Ethiopian Medical Students' Association

Ethiopian Medical Students' Association (EMSA) is a student-governed, non-profit organization that was started in November, 2003 by the combined efforts of medical students and physicians in USA as well as Ethiopia. EMSA is proud of its diverse and growing membership composed of individuals from various countries as well as various fields of medicine and research.

Ethiopian Medical Students' Association serves as a forum to address issues that are important to medical students at the various medical schools (Addis Ababa University, Jimma Institute of Health and Gondar College of Medical Sciences) in Ethiopia. This student group
provides a necessary organization for Ethiopian medical students to meet and exchange ideas,
information, and experiences that will lead to professional and personal development. In addition EMSA aims to provide medical students in Ethiopia an opportunity to interact and work with other medical students and health care professionals around the world interested in promoting global health.

EMSA's activities are constantly evolving based on the interests of its members and the needs of the local community. We are invovled anywhere from raising awareness about various health issues to collaborating with organizations to deliver essential hospital equipments to health care facilities around the country. Our vision is to ultimately build a strong medical student community dedicated to contribute our share to improve the health and well being of Ethiopians.

We are truly excited about what the future holds for EMSA and we are confident that by empowering future physicians EMSA will play a strong role in making a lasting difference in the Ethiopian healthcare system.
